This summer we decided to plan a 10-day getaway to discover the Tuscan side of Italy. As soon as we booked the plane tickets, we started our intensive research to find the perfect place to stay. When you travel, I think the most important thing is to find a place where you will enjoy your time and won’t miss the comfort of your house.
When looking for a place to stay, we didn’t want to stay at a hotel where the maximum of occupancy in each room is only 2 people. We wanted to have the Tuscan experience and rent a villa in the countryside and drive around visiting the little towns. This was not easy at all, many of the villas we liked were already taken and others did not meet our standards. However, only one week away from our trip, I decided to give Airbnb a try and found a villa that seemed to be the perfect match for us.
It was the first time we used Airbnb but definitely not the last. It exceeded our expectations and it made our trip unforgettable. Once you decide to make the reservation, the online network contacts you with the owners and if you are as lucky as us, you will meet new people that will become your friends.
Margarita and Giancarlo are the owners of the Villa, they are the kind of people that value friendship and love what they do. They rent the place as a hobby to meet new people and show them the beauty of Tuscany. They received us with open arms and gave us recommendations about where the locals go and the best activities to do nearby. The villa was in perfect shape, and once you enter it is obvious all the love and passion that was put into decorating it and maintaining it. It has a maximum occupancy of 6 people and access to a private pool that the condominium shares.
The experience was exquisite. We gained new friends and felt welcomed to a new tradition and culture. The location was perfect, because we had the opportunity to visit many towns, castles and cities such as Florence, Arezzo, Siena, Badicorte, Pisa, Chianti… Last but not least, I can’t end this post without mentioning the delicious food and gelato that we could not stop eating every single day.
P.S.: Thank you Margarita and Giancarlo for making our stay unforgettable! We will see you soon.
