If you’ve heard this idea before but you’ve never tried it because it didn’t sound that romantic to you, you couldn’t be further away from the truth. Leave all skepticism behind and just make sure to get a nice picnic basket to make it as elegant as possible. When it comes to what’s inside, wine, grapes, and Italian cheese need to be your go-to options. Last but not least, remember to pack a blanket and sun umbrella so you both can be comfortable and enjoy every second of if.
2. Hot air balloons
This is your go-to activity if you want to swipe her/him off her/his feet, literally. The city at your feet and your loved one by your side, it doesn’t get much better than that. Not to mention the beautiful pictures you will be able to take, great polaroid material don’t you think?
Extra tip: If you really want to make this a special date make sure you book the ride just for you two. It will make it more private and will show you really took the time to plan it and decided to go an extra mile for him/her.
3. Vespa Ride
Yes, It’s not a typo. Vespa Ride it’s exactly what we meant to say. If you are reading this post and you are in Italy, you are in the ideal location. If you happen to be anywhere else on the planet the good news is that you can still do it and get an Italian Valentine’s Day. The perfect mix of adventure and romance, a Vespa ride will make you both feel like Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday.
Extra tip: Finish your Vespa ride with a picnic. Mixing these two ideas will be anyone’s dream for Valentine’s Day.
4. Sail away for a day
Let’s be honest if you want to get some inspiration when it comes to romance, The Notebook is the place where you want to start.
If you live somewhere far away from the ocean, renting a boat will be your best option. The perk is that you will be able to recreate the famous movie scene from beginning to end. However, if the ocean is near you, then we recommend you to shake things a little and rent a sailboat for a day.
No worries, we are not assuming you’ll suddenly become a skilful sailor —if you are, you’re the real deal— there are companies who will rent a sailboat and you’ll have a designated sailorman with you. You’ll be able to spend the day in the middle of the ocean, swim, cook, suntan and have an amazing time together.
Extra tip: Make sure you rent the boat until late afternoon in order to be able to enjoy the sunset in the open sea. If you ended up picking the boat ride on a lake, then make sure you plan it towards the end of the day so you can also enjoy the sunset.
P.S.: Since this year we are having a Valen-Tuesday, and you probably won’t have the time or availability to spend a Tuesday at the beach, then you might leave these ideas for the weekend. However, there’s one thing you need to keep in mind, Valentine’s day is officially on February 14, and even when it’s in the middle of the week you need to make it special. Make sure you send flowers, not the typical red roses bouquet, buy her favourite flowers, wrap them nicely and be thoughtful enough to write a note. If you want to do something more creative, get her chocolate covered strawberries, because if there’s something she would like more than flowers is definitely chocolate.
